Licensed under GNU General Public Licensing arrangement, Midnight Commander offers a handy full-screen text mode application that makes searching for file groups and directory trees easy. Once downloaded, it allows users to search for files, for example, and then run specific commands for them in the sub-shell they have located. Internal viewer and editor options are also included. The programme will function inside an X Window terminal, over SSH connections and all types of remote shells.
