Methods2: Secrets and Death is a premium simulation game from Erabit Studios. Continuing where Methods: Detective Competition left off, this is a visual novel experience where you are tasked with solving crimes. One hundred detectives and criminals compete for a million dollars, plus a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

Although the visuals appear wacky, Methods2: Secrets and Death has an intriguing and engaging premise. You’d better play the previous episode to get a better grasp, although you’ll have to wait for the next installment. Move further into the Detective Competition

While Detective Competition covers chapters 1 to 20, Methods2: Secrets and Death covers Chapters 21 to 42 of the Methods series, with three more to be released to complete the story. In this installment, you continue following the competition. Detectives and criminals participate, with the latter being promised parole regardless of their crime. This time, however, you play as the Spy sent by the Game Master to spice things up.

In terms of content volume, it’s on par with the first installment. It combines visual novel and crime mystery elements that leave you guessing and hanging. While this episode has its self-contained ending, the overarching storyline is far from over. Still, it does well to stand alone, with 25 interactive crime scenes and 20 story chapters for players to enjoy, solve, and engage in.

Unlike other visual novels that pride themselves on the artwork, this one goes a different way. The character designs are unusual and give off a parodic vibe. However, this art style helps create a unique identity for the game. Additionally, the crime scenes have been created with great detail, giving players a lot of space to work with and making the game enjoyable and engaging.

A good build-up to the Methods series

The Methods series delves deeper into its intriguing narrative with Methods2: Secrets and Death encompassing chapters 21 to 42. Players immerse themselves as the Spy, tasked by the Game Master to add zest to the competition. Despite its unconventional artwork, the game captivates with detailed crime scenes and a unique storyline. While this installment offers a closure of sorts, the overarching mystery persists.
