Mech Arena is a free-to-play action game developed by Plarium Global Ltd. It is a sci-fi-themed MMO shooter, wherein players engage in thrilling battles, piloting advanced, superpowered mechs. It supports up to 10 participants in a match and offers various gameplay modes depending on the kind of experience they want. 

Comparable to Pacific Rim or Gundam Battle: Gunpla Warfare, Mech Arena offers extensive customization options to equip their mech with weapons and attachments to help them take on various challenges and battle scenarios. It also supports cross-platform gameplay, letting players challenge and fight others across mobile devices and PCs. 

Thrilling mech battles 

Choose from five modes in Mech Arena, starting with 5v5 Control Point and Deathmatch. For more intimate engagements, you can opt for 2v2 Deathmatches or go all out until only one is left standing in Free-For-All. If you’re after co-op gameplay, there’s the PvE mode called Onslaught. Regardless of which, you can pick from more than 45 unique maps where they can take place, each offering different layouts and conditions. 

Choose from a roster of over 30 Elite Pilots with unique stats, personality, and backstory. You can enhance their abilities further through cybernetic implants. For your machine, there are 30-plus mechs to pick from, which you can loadout with an excess of 100 weapons and different mods to interesting results. You can even unlock a wide variety of skins for unique looks. 

There are also regular tournaments and events you can participate in for a chance to win special loot and gear. Having said all that, the gameplay experience in Mech Arena gets grindy after a while. Also, there is an apparent bias towards players who spend money to progress in-game and get ahead, which is something that many non-paying players won’t appreciate. 

Fun for a little while 

Overall, Mech Arena is a fun and engaging mech battle game, serving up diverse gameplay and expansive mech customization possibilities. Cross-play is also a nice touch, letting you play with a wider set of players across all supported platforms. You do feel the grind after a while, and progression is heavily tied to a pay wall. Nevertheless, it’s free-to-play and is still worth a try.
