MangaCompass is a free web-based manga tracker and discovery platform built for readers who are trying to keep up with dozens of ongoing series at once. Track what you're reading, get notified about new releases, and find your next series through personalized recommendations — all from your browser, with no downloads and no premium paywall.

What MangaCompass does

Keeping track of manga is harder than it should be. Release schedules are scattered across platforms, ongoing series drop off your radar, and reading lists sprawl until they're useless. MangaCompass was created in 2025 to solve exactly that problem — it started as a personal organizational tool and grew into a public platform for the wider manga community.

The app gives you a single place to manage a personal library drawn from a catalog of over 100,000 titles, spanning all genres and publishers. You can mark series as reading, completed, or planned; see upcoming releases in a calendar view; and receive notifications when new chapters arrive. Its recommendation engine surfaces new series based on what you've actually read rather than what happens to be trending.

Key features

• Library tracking — Organize a personal library from a catalog of 100,000+ manga titles across every genre and publisher.

• Release calendar and notifications — See upcoming volume and chapter releases at a glance and get alerted when new ones drop.

• Personalized recommendations — Discover new series matched to your reading history rather than to generic popularity charts.

• Advanced search — Filter by genre, demographic, publication status, and more to narrow down exactly what you're looking for.

• Reliable metadata — Synopses, volume counts, publication status, and creator credits aggregated from trusted community sources.

• Completely free — No ads, no premium tier, no account paywall.

How it works

1. Open MangaCompass in your browser — no installation, no setup.

2. Search the catalog and add the series you're reading, have finished, or want to start.

3. Browse recommendations generated from your library and ratings.

4. Check the calendar for upcoming releases and enable notifications for the series you follow.

5. When you find something you want to read, follow the links to official publishers and retailers.

Under the hood, MangaCompass pulls manga metadata and release schedules from MyAnimeList via the Jikan API, then organizes that data into tracking lists, calendar views, and recommendation results. Product and volume information comes from the Amazon Product API. All manga content is attributed to its respective creators and copyright holders.

Pricing and transparency

MangaCompass is currently free to use with no advertisements and no premium tiers. Future plans may include Amazon affiliate links on volume purchase pages, which earn a small commission at no extra cost to you, and optional premium features such as enhanced notifications or custom lists — but a robust free tier will always remain. User data is never sold to third parties.

Content policy

MangaCompass is a tracking and discovery tool. It does not host, stream, distribute, or link to manga chapters, volumes, or scanlations of any kind. No pirated or unlicensed content is provided or made accessible through this platform.

What the app provides is metadata — titles, synopses, genres, release dates, volume counts, and publication status — so you can decide what to read and keep a record of what you've read. When you find a series you want, MangaCompass directs you to legitimate sources: official publishers, licensed digital platforms, retailers, and libraries. Supporting the creators and publishers behind these stories is a core principle of the project, not an afterthought.
