The Maine Island Trail Association (MITA) has developed an app in partnership with Chimani Inc. to provide its members and the public with a virtual exploration of the Maine Island Trail. This water trail connects over 200 islands and mainland sites along the Coast of Maine, making it the first recreational water trail in North America.

With the MITA app, users can view publicly-owned islands, access information about the trail, and enjoy spectacular photos. The app also provides useful features such as pump-outs, tide charts, safety information, and launch sites. Additionally, users can stay updated with MITA news and events through the app.

It is important to note that while the app is free to download, membership with MITA is required to view privately-owned sites. Users should also be aware that continued use of GPS running in the background can significantly impact battery life.
