It features a brand new single-player campaign mode that challenges players to create the ultimate team that will go into the history books as one of the best.

Compared to the previous Madden NFL 22 wherein players were given the chance to experience owning and coaching a franchise team, Madden NFL 23 focuses more on accolades and the ultimate prize of being the best in the league, and every decision will reflect that.

The previous Madden NFL 22 release focused on enhancements to Franchise Mode with more control over various aspects of the management side of things. In Madden NFL 23, it is all about the Face of The Franchise, and you will be presented with the challenge of creating the greatest team that can go down the history of all Madden Ultimate Team and ultimately, The League.

The League thrusts you into your fifth season and a fresh start with a new team, with your choice of skill positions. Think like an NFL head coach, which means scouting and trading for superstars using the updated Trade Logic AI. You'll also need to create a competent and supportive staff to cater to your team's needs, as well as conduct weekly strategy huddles to utilize in games.

Once you've got your bearing, test your skills in developing a fantasy team, choosing from the current roster of NFL players and Hall of Fame Legends. Sad to say, this game is plagued with numerous bugs and glitches that render it unplayable at times. Also, ads appear while navigating menus, which, considering its price, is a little off-putting and not a nice sign for its developer.

A mixed bag

To conclude, despite some visual improvements and additions to make a more engaging campaign mode, Madden NFL 23 still needs more work when it comes to its execution. There are just too many little issues that add up to a rather poor experience. Until they get addressed and fixed, you're better off waiting for updates or playing something else instead.
