Lucky Yu 幸运鱼 is a freely downloadable fishing game that has been created with traditional hand-drawn Chinese graphics. Although its premise is similar to other platforms, such as Ultimate Fishing Simulator, the decidedly relaxing undertones are more intended for casual gameplay.

The main goal of Lucky Yu 幸运鱼 is to catch a series of fish using a traditional hook and lure. Unlike some other bundles, users will be presented with a two-dimensional perspective of the fisherman and the surrounding landscape. There are numerous different types of fish that players can catch.

Simple and intuitive

All character actions and movements are easy to control, ensuring that there is virtually no learning curve. However, the decidedly smooth mechanics serve to accentuate the visual elements that surround the protagonist. The only real storyline involves catching a specific quota of fish. Their images can be seen as shadows directly beneath the boat.

A family venture

All of the graphics found throughout Lucky Yu 幸运鱼 were created by the mother of the developer. They mirror traditional Chinese black ink art, and they provide what can only be called a timeless nature to the overall virtual experience.

Equally relaxing sound effects

The audio effects present throughout this game are minimalist, and there is very little background music. However, the developer still wished to imbue the platform with an organic appeal. Therefore, certain pleasing sounds have been included, such as wooden blocks knocking together.

Fishing for the masses

Although this game is not as immersive as other platforms, such as Cat Goes Fishing, this was not the ultimate intention of the developer. Instead, he wanted to create an interesting fishing SIM that offered a combination of timeless Chinese art and what can only be termed an ASMR-like experience.
