Al-Qur'an is the central religious text of Islam, which Muslims believe to be a revelation from God (Arabic: الله‎, Allah). The word Qur'an is derived from the Arabic word "Qur'an" which means "the recitation."

The Quran is believed to have been revealed to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) through the angel Gabriel (Jibril) and to have been verbally revealed to him by Allah.
