LinkedIn Lite, as the name indicates, is a less data- and space-hungry version of the popular LinkedIn app. For some perspective, the app is only 1MB in size.

Designed for Less Capable Devices

LinkedIn Lite, like the original LinkedIn app, can help you locate jobs, get professional news and connect with people even if there is limited storage space on your phone or your Internet connection is slow. The app is primarily designed for professionals in emerging markets such as India where Internet speeds and connectivity are still not up to the mark. The Lite lives up to its name. It’s just 1MB in size. When compared to the LinkedIn app, which is 27 MB, the Lite is quite a truncated version. As a result, the app is easier to load and also quick to launch. It should work fairly smoothly on even outdated 2G networks.

Still Potent Enough

Despite being lightweight, the app still packs in almost all the bells and whistles that most of us have come to know and love about LinkedIn. For instance, you’ve got your news feed, networks, messaging functionality, profile, notifications, etc. Only the most data-hogging aspects have been ejected from the app. At the moment, LinkedIn Lite is available for download only to users based in India. But it should be available soon in several other emerging markets. Since Android is more popular than iOS in India, an iOS version of the app doesn’t seem too likely.
