Linelight revolves around the question 'What if we reduced a video game to its simplest form?'. The indie title consists of a few simple lines, a stripped down score and little else. Levels consist of individual puzzles, usually composed of a switch and a few paths, linked together on a kind of circuit board design which floats against a night sky. This simplicity is a risky move for a game to take but, thanks to great level design and a relaxing atmosphere, the game works surprisingly well. Failing a puzzle results in an instant re-spawn, removing any kind of tension and a focus instead on thought and trail. Linelight will not be for everyone, but those who enjoy puzzle games or a more laid back gaming experience will find themselves returning for short bursts of calming reflection.
