What is the LeaveHomeSafe app?

This is a new app developed by the Centre for Health Protection of the Department of Health of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is designed to help people keep track of their COVID-19 visits, as well as provide guidance for individuals to follow to protect themselves from COVID-19 in venues. It also enables people to upload their vaccination and testing records to help with the prevention and control of COVID-19.

How does the app work?

If a person visits a venue in Hong Kong, he or she can scan a QR code to record the visit. The QR code displays a unique visit record that can be used to identify the venue. If a person has COVID-19, he or she can scan the QR code of his or her confirmed case and receive a notification. If the QR code belongs to a confirmed case, then the app will notify the person who visited the venue at the same time.
