It is the name of God in Islam, the name by which Muslims regard God. The word is derived from the Arabic word عداد‎ (ʿďūd), “gifts”, “bestows”. It means that God has bestowed His favor upon humanity, bestowed His special blessing upon us, and bestowed the right to worship.

In the Qur'an, Allah says in verse 59 of the 9th chapter, "And your Lord says: ‘Oh humans, walk in the right way; for I will make you from a people of the Book (the messengers), by trying you, to what end I will make you from the people of the Book.” This means that the Messengers were sent to mankind to be their means of guiding them to the truth and to help them in the day of Resurrection.

Saying La ilah illa Allah is the most beautiful of the Names of God in Islam. It means "The God is Powerful".
