He was born in the city of Najran in the province of Al-Jura in the year 204 AD. His father was a famous Muslim scholar. The young Ibn Atha’illah grew up in the Islamic city of Makkah. He studied religion and literature in the school of Al-Majalis. He also studied science in the university of Baghdad. In the year 264 AD, he returned to his homeland, and he was appointed as the religious and legal governor of the province of Al-Jura.
