Kinh Pháp Cú is a compilation of concise yet meaningful teachings by the revered Buddha, Thich Ca, in three hundred different scenarios for spiritual education. These teachings were spoken by the Buddha himself during nearly half a century of delivering sermons. The Buddha imparted his teachings orally rather than through written texts.

Three months after the Buddha attained Nirvana, his prominent disciples gathered to recite and record his teachings, resulting in the compilation of the Buddhist scriptures. The disciples organized the teachings into 423 "kệ" (lectures), which are further divided into 26 "phẩm" (chapters) to suit the preferences of readers and listeners. Kinh Pháp Cú is also recited during the First Great Assembly of Buddhist Scriptures.
