Kalyan Silks is a leading chain of luxury showrooms in India. The company was founded in the year 1920 by Kalyan Appa, who started out as a silk merchant in Kerala. He was the first person to establish a store in Kerala and this was the first time that Indian sarees were showcased in a retail store. Kalyan Appa was the pioneer of the Indian saree as a fashion accessory. He designed the first Indian saree that was presented at the Royal Command Swimming Exhibition in London in 1927.

In the same year, Kalyan Appa also opened his first showroom in Kerala. The showroom was located in the capital city of Thiruvananthapuram. In the following year, Kalyan Appa set up his own company and opened more showrooms in Kerala. In the 1950s, Kalyan Appa was also involved in the design and production of fabrics for various fabrics for the government. He introduced the chiffon saree as a luxury fashion accessory.

The company was nationalized in 1983 and renamed Kalyan Group Ltd. Since then, the group has opened several new showrooms in Kerala and also expanded its business in other parts of the country. The company also has an online retail store and offers free home delivery.
