Isekai-theme fantasy RPG
Journey to Kreisia is a premium role-playing game by Exe Create Inc. It is a fantasy RPG adventure that takes inspiration from the popular "isekai" genre from manga and anime shows. It follows the story of a high school student who mysteriously gets transported to another world to serve as its hero and fight against an evil lord.
Much like Chroma Quaternion or Isekai Rondo, Journey to Kreisia features pixel graphics to add to the retro appeal. The gameplay experience is enhanced by character-driven narratives that slowly unfold as players progress through the game.
Hero to another world
Journey of Kreisia follows the story of a high school student named Yusis who mysteriously gets transported to a strange fantasy world by a blinding pillar of light. He soon realizes that he was summoned to be a hero and battle the evil Overlord to save the land and its people. Thus begins a grand adventure across a vast land filled with intrigue and unknown dangers.
Inspired by classic RPGs, this game features tactical turn-based combat and open-world exploration to multiple unique locations with unique treasures to discover. Battle encounters happen randomly, and there are multiple branching paths you can take on your quest. Grow stronger by leveling up your weapons and equipping powerful orbs, and use your handy monster guide to gain insights into the land's creatures.
What's more, the game features multiple endings, encouraging you to replay the game campaign to unlock them all. Outside of the main story, you can take on various sidequests to get nice rewards and participate in the battle arena to test out your strength and tactical prowess. All that said, the combat aspect is rather basic and forgettable, and most of the attention is given to the narrative.
Intriguing yet lackluster
To conclude, Journey to Kreisia is a charming node to classic RPGs with a nice isekai twist borrowed from the world of manga and anime. However, there's a heavy focus on the characters and narrative, that other aspects like the combat experience feel a bit plain and underwhelming. It's still worth checking out but it could have been much better given a bit more attention.
