いたみノート is an application developed by JUNTENDO UNIVERSITY, making it the first of its kind in Japan for chronic pain research. The app aims to address the tendency among Japanese individuals to endure pain and avoid seeking medical attention until their condition worsens. It allows users to collect information on their daily life experiences, such as pain levels, mood, sleep disorders, and physical activity, along with weather data. By simultaneously gathering this information, the app enables the evaluation of chronic pain, depression, and sleep disorders.

The app not only helps individuals with chronic pain to record and visualize changes in their pain levels for self-medication purposes but also aims to contribute to the identification of factors that exacerbate chronic pain through big data analysis. It is expected that the app will be utilized not only by patients with chronic pain but also by potential patients who have not sought medical attention yet. The potential of big data research on chronic pain could lead to an improvement in the quality of life for chronic pain patients and a reduction in the associated socioeconomic losses.
