The Indian Premier League or IPL is a professional Twenty20 cricket league hosted in India that is contested by eight teams—based out of eight different Indian cities. First founded in 2007 by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), it’s usually held between March and May of every year and has an exclusive window in the ICC Future Tours Programme. 

Like other sports events, its popularity and success over the years garnered media attention and eventually inspired an official mobile app for fans to enjoy the competitions much easier when on the go.
