What is Indian History?

It is the history of the Indian subcontinent, which includes the territory of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, the Maldives, and some minor islands. It begins with the creation of the Indian Empire by the Aryans in the period of 1500 BC to 300 AD, and then splits into various smaller states during the Indian medieval period (500 BC to 1000 AD), which later unite to form the Muslim Vijayanagara Empire in the period of 1000 to 1500 AD. The empire was later destroyed by the Portuguese in the 16th century, and then the British in the 18th century. The British divided the region into the Princely States of Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Bihar, and West Bengal, and the Mughal Empire, which became the largest empire in India, comprising many of the same regions.
