Indie spinoff of a hit animated series
IFSCL 4.5.X [Code Lyoko Game] is a free-to-play simulation experience from Immudelki. This is based on the French sci-fi animated series, Code Lyoko, and gives the player a sense of interacting with the supercomputers appearing on the show. In this indie game, you play as Jeremy, a genius kid who operates a supercomputer and somehow sends his friends into the virtual world.
The game itself is an adventure, although framed as if you’re operating the supercomputer yourself. This treatment makes IFSCL 4.5.X [Code Lyoko Game] very immersive. Other sims include Internet Cafe Simulator.
Go online and fight XANA
The premise of IFSCL 4.5.X [Code Lyoko Game] closely mirrors that of the Code: Lyoko animated series where you fight the evil artificial intelligence known as XANA. In this game, however, you play as the series character Jerome, who has access to one of the supercomputers and sends his friends into the virtual world known as LYOKO. These friends serve as your pool of characters that you guide.
In terms of visuals, you won’t be disappointed since it features some high-resolution artwork to get you started. As mentioned, the game revolves around simulating the computer operation experience. The game mostly displays a computer screen, with a variety of windows and screens for you to manage. Even the combat appears as a pop-up window where you fight against computer-generated monsters from XANA, making the experience immersive.
As an indie game created mostly by a single person, there are still a lot of rough patches. For example, the latest updates have left it with quite a short playthrough length. Thankfully, each of the chapters is a standalone experience, which makes the experience episodic and the content restrictions acceptable. Other than that, it’s just a matter of overcoming the initial learning curve and getting used to the interface.
A totally immersive sim
Even if you’re not a fan of the Code: Lyoko game series, IFSCL 4.5.X [Code Lyoko Game] is still a commendable indie experience you should check out. Its treatment of the game focuses on immersion, even if it means alienating players at first. Most of the time, it feels like you’re operating a different computer. The overall premise also ties in well with the animated series, which is a welcome treat for fans.
