Iconoid is a desktop icon-management tool with which you can change icon text and background colors, make text in the background transparent, hide icons when you don't need them, and see icons when you do (based on the mouse-pointer location).

Iconoid can automatically determine the optimal text-background color based on your current wallpaper, or you can select your own color. Iconoid also saves and restores icon positions when your screen resolution changes.
