Hybrid Google Meet is a free Chrome extension developed by extensions. Designed to enhance the experience of participants in hybrid meetings, this extension allows users to join Google Meet meetings with their sound and microphone muted, enabling them to utilize the chat and hand-raising features seamlessly.

Hybrid meetings, where some participants are physically present while others join virtually, can present challenges in terms of communication equality. In-person participants often have the advantage of better audio quality, natural conversation flow, and side conversations. This can lead to virtual participants feeling forgotten or unheard, with raised hands going unnoticed and chat messages limited to other virtual attendees.

To create a more equitable experience for all participants, Hybrid Google Meet encourages both virtual and in-person attendees to use the hand-raising feature and have access to the chat. This requires in-person participants to join the meeting through their laptops, even if they have already connected via a shared TV screen.

However, a common problem arises when in-person participants forget to mute their sound and microphone before joining, resulting in screeching feedback. Additionally, accidental unmuting can occur, even though participants are physically present and speaking through a shared microphone.

Hybrid Google Meet addresses this challenge by adding a convenient "Join hybrid" button to Google Meet. By clicking this button, users can join the meeting with their sound and microphone muted, ensuring a smooth and uninterrupted experience when using the hand-raising and chat features. To return to normal functionality, simply refresh the page and click the regular "Join" button.
