Comparable to games like Decktamer or Slay the Spire, Hunter’s Moon features tactical turn-based battles, wherein they can build a variety of decks to tackle different enemies and situations. There are multiple characters available and a vast world rich in lore to explore and discover.

Horrific plague

Hunter’s Moon: A Sovereign Syndicate Adventure takes place during the Victorian era and features steampunk themes for its characters and story. In it, the city is suffering from a mysterious plague that has corrupted wildlife and spawned monstrous creatures inspired by Lovecraftian lore. It is up to a select group of individuals to uncover the truth behind what happened and find a cure.

Taking place before the events of Sovereign Syndicate, embark on a perilous mission to uncover the secrets of the titular Hunter’s Moon. Choose from four character classes, each with its own unique talents and deck of cards that can be augmented with hundreds of variations and combinations to suit your play style. Battle diverse enemies and face tough bosses that require unique tactics to defeat. 

During a run, keep pushing forward or retreat with the items and money you’ve collected to unlock permanent upgrades back at your airship base. Use them with enchanted tarot cards to modify your runs in various ways. All that said, the experience is a bit short, lasting only a few hours for a full playthrough. Additionally, there are some balancing issues among the playable characters.

All in all, if you have played the first game, Hunter’s Moon: A Sovereign Syndicate Adventure is a welcome return to its immersive and captivating steampunk world. Pick your fighter and uncover the mysteries of the plague and find a cure to save the city. It is a more condensed experience compared to the original, but no less engaging or engrossing.
