The Hànyǔ Shuǐpíng Kǎoshì (HSK) is a Chinese language proficiency test for non-native speakers such as foreign students and overseas Chinese. It is the only standardized test of Standard Chinese language proficiency for non-native speakers in China.

The HSK is divided into five sections: listening, reading, writing, speaking, and listening comprehension. The HSK test consists of multiple-choice questions, and the examiners make scoring decisions based on the examiners' interpretation of the question, which is supposed to be the examiners' perception of the candidate's language proficiency.
