BTS (also known as the Bangtan Boys or Bulletproof Boy Scouts) is a seven-member K-pop boy band from South Korea. They began as a group of friends who shared a love of music, and later formed a studio with the aim of creating songs that would bring about a change in the direction of Korean pop culture. The name BTS was derived from the Korean word Bangtan, which means "bullet train", because of the band's popularity during the 2010s, when they released many songs with a strong influence from Japanese anime and manga.
