Unlike other tower defense games, HoneyCombat will not put your character in the middle of the action. Instead, you will float on top of your army, where you can drop honey to upgrade them into powerful specialized units. Other than that, all you can do is watch.

What is HoneyCombat?

HoneyCombat is an indie game developed for the GainJam 2021. As mentioned, your role here is a bee commander, who must lead his troop to protect his queen. However, the only thing you can do is throw colored honey into your units. The honey will fatten them up and make them stronger to defeat the incoming enemy. The game ends once you've invaded the enemy's territory and killed their queen.

The controls are easy in this game. You can use the WASD keys or the arrow keys to move, while the space bar lets you drop the honey. There are different colors of honey, and each color provides a different upgrade for your bee army. There is even purple honey, which makes your queen grow bigger. Doing so will also increase the maximum unit you can have.

There are three modes to the game, easy, normal, and hard. As the name suggests, each corresponds to the level of challenge that you will face. Visual-wise, the game features colorful pixel art, making the sprites look cartoon-ish. However, while it is fun, it is not immune to bug issues. Sometimes, throughout the session, the game fails to spawn units. Additionally, the queen's defeat animation is not shown.
