Hold On for Dear Life is a widget that you install on your computer. Enter your cryptocurrency into the program and it shows you a live ticker that displays the current price of your cryptocurrency. You can hide the display away, or keep it on your desktop.

Hold On for Dear Life only shows you the current price of one of your cryptocurrency coins, but if you remember how many you bought, then you can quickly work out how much your coins are worth in total. The GUI asks you for the name of your cryptocurrency or its ticker name (e.g. for OmiseGO, you could write in OmiseGO or its ticker name OMG), and if the app has a live ticker checker for your coin, then it will add your cryptocurrency to the app. It then sits in a small grey box wherever you decide to put it on your desktop.

Crypto’s answer to a stock ticker

Hold On for Dear Life is the crypto-world’s version of a stock ticker, which is something that many cryptocurrency holders desire. Most crypto-investors have Internet tabs where they check on the price of their coins from one day to the next. Hold On for Dear Life does eliminates the need to bring up an Internet web page, but it has a few flaws. The first is that the app is massively overpriced, and the second is that the ticker seems to have a lag with regards to crypto price changes that you cannot refresh in the same way you can with an Internet browser. Also, the app doesn't do enough to lower its trading risk, so do not buy or trade your cryptocurrency through the app or through any companies advertised by the app. Also, be careful where you download these types of apps because they are fan favourites of hackers and virus creators.
