HighC is inspired from Iannis Xenakis' UPIC work of the mid 80's. UPIC was used by numerous contemporary music composers at the time. Thanks to nowadays progress in computing power, this tool is now available to a large audience on commodity hardware, with far more features and ease of use.

Novices and children can use HighC to experiment and learn about harmonics and sound composition. Professional musicians can explore a new approach at composition and create new sorts of sound samples or parts to incorporate into their compositions.
