Guild Wars® Reforged is an adventure game developed by ArenaNet®. It’s a modernized version of the original 2005 MMORPG, Guild Wars, featuring various improvements to visuals, an overhauled UI, a rebuilt audio system, and other quality-of-life updates. It’s not to be mistaken as a sequel or prequel to the franchise.

Once again, players find themselves in the wonderful world of Tyria in Guild Wars® Reforged, where they can relive their heroic adventures. For some, they’ll get to explore this strange and mysterious world for the very first time. It is a narrative-driven adventure filled with tales of triumph and glory.

Embark on a grand and heroic adventure

Guild Wars® Reforged manages to capture the essence of the original version without rewriting its identity completely. The concept is still the same; you create a character, customize their appearance, and then choose from 10 professions (classes). From there, they can embark on a journey filled with hundreds of quests to complete. It’s worth noting that Reforged gives players full access to all three classic campaigns: Prophecies, Factions, and Nightfall.

Being an online MMO, you can party up with other players to accomplish amazing feats together. It’s a great way to tackle difficult challenges. There is also an option to recruit NPC henchmen to tag along with you. Your party is not only limited to PvE, but you can also attempt to fight other players and teams in exciting PvP battles.

The combat, while being almost the same, still has some notable differences that make it better than the original. For one, the UI has been vastly improved, making it easier to read abilities and skills on modern high-resolution monitors. Additionally, the new quest tracking system integrated in the system makes it even more new-player friendly, as it directs players on what to do, resulting in an intuitive questing experience.

Feels the exact same as it was in 2005

Overall, Guild Wars® Reforged is the exact version of what it was back in 2005, but overhauled to keep up with the modern era. The quality-of-life additions to the game were obviously to draw in new players, but it still retains its original charm to appease veteran players. The models and textures, however, look “recycled” and were just sharpened a bit to look updated, which can unfortunately still look outdated by today’s standards.
