Bringing order to terminal chaos
Grove is an AI-native macOS script runner designed to give developers and their AI coding agents shared control over terminal processes. It brings project scripts, development servers, tests, and watchers into one place, helping reduce the confusion of managing multiple terminal tabs during local development workflows.
Shared processes, better visibility
Grove automatically reads supported project manifests, including package.json, deno.json, pyproject.toml, Cargo.toml, go.mod, and Makefile, without requiring a separate configuration file. Developers can view up to four live terminals, monitor logs, access detected ports, and stop processes along with their child processes, making everyday development easier.
Its built-in CLI and MCP server allow AI agents to start, inspect, and stop the same processes developers can see. This platform also offers an Explain feature using Apple’s on-device model to summarize failures while removing token- or password-like information beforehand. A shortcoming is its platform limitation: it currently requires macOS 15 or later, excluding Windows and Linux users.
A focused developer utility
Overall, Grove is a practical tool for developers who regularly work with AI coding agents and multiple local processes. Its shared terminal visibility, real process management, MCP integration, and simple pricing make it appealing for modern development workflows. At $5 once, it also avoids recurring subscription costs for users.
