Dive into a retro-style world as Frank the Hero
Going for Nuts is an adventure game where players take the role of Frank the Hamster, who must save the world. Developed by Crazy Mage for PC gaming, this platformer title indulges users in a retro-style, 16-bit graphic world filled with various creatures and dynamic environments.
Inspired by old-school arcade games, Going for Nuts offers a fun and engaging journey with its side-scrolling and platforming mechanics, touching fantasy, comedy, and action elements. This casual family-friendly title features hand-drawn, comic book-style 2D pixel art that evokes a strong sense of nostalgia.
Save the world
Going for Nuts follows the story of the unconventional hero named Frank in his epic adventure of saving the world from unknown forces. Here, he traverses icy plains, enchanting forests, shadowy undergrounds, and towering mountains—and meets cute and friendly creatures along the journey—to face an enemy faction with immeasurable size and power who he must put an end to.
This adventure contains 18 handcrafted levels and one endgame boss fight, each containing various foes and different musical themes, ensuring that every stage is not similar. It adds a layer of excitement and difficulty, keeping players engaged as they navigate increasingly challenging obstacles. There is no need to worry, though. The game features cartoon violence, which means there is no visualization of blood or anything related.
Use a keyboard or gamepad to control the movements of our little hero and toggle the main menu with the mouse. Unfortunately, although it is stated that players can use a gamepad, it only allows this specific controller to be utilized in the actual game. It does not work when restarting the game. Additionally, only the d-pad is supported, leaving the joystick movement not working.
16-bit platforming adventure
Going for Nuts offers nostalgia, humor, and action with its retro-style platforming adventure. Frank the Hamster’s quest to save the world is filled with vibrant environments and engaging gameplay, making it an enjoyable experience for all ages. However, some technical issues with gamepad support may hinder a smooth experience. Despite this, the game’s charm and unique levels make it a fun, casual title for adventure fans.
