GENKI Vocab for 3rd Ed. is an official iPhone app developed by The Japan Times Publishing Ltd. It is designed to help users learn elementary Japanese words at their own pace. This app is based on the vocabulary from the third edition of GENKI: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese, a popular Japanese learning series with over 2 million copies sold worldwide.

With over 1,200 essential words for beginners, users can study and master Japanese vocabulary through three main modes: Study, Check, and List. In the Study mode, users can view words, their meanings, and example sentences. Audio recordings of all words and example sentences are provided with natural pronunciations by native Japanese speakers. Fun illustrations are also included to aid in retaining the words.

The Check mode allows learners to track their progress and understanding of the vocabulary. Users can sort words into those they have mastered and those they still need to work on. The List mode displays a comprehensive list of all the words covered by the app, which can be arranged in different orders such as lesson order, a-i-u-e-o order, or alphabetical order. Words that have been bookmarked in the Study mode are also listed in the Bookmark list.
