Galactic Gunner is a science-fiction rail shooter in which you take on the role of the gunner in a space fighter. As your pilot steers the ship, you'll be responsible for zapping swarms of practice drones, asteroids, and enemy vessels.

Accuracy counts

Unlike a lot of mobile shooters, which just test how quickly you can tap, Galactic Gunner requires you to balance rate of fire and accuracy. At the end of each level, your hit rate will be ranked, with a minimum level required to proceed to the next stage. The swerving, swooping motion of the ship can make this pretty challenging. The space environments have colorful backgrounds, while the vocal performances from your ship's cheerful Australian pilot and his doltish wingman are consistently entertaining.

Simple but fun

Like most rail shooters, Galactic Gunner is pretty simple: you zap things, and if you zap them well enough you get to zap even more. It succeeds largely in its execution, with fast-paced action, a challenging but fair system, and even an enjoyable theme song.
