Frostbound is a new rogue-like game that sees players guide a group of elk-like folk through a virtual-reality environment. Coupled with VR, Frostbound has a fully immersive environment where players have to explore, survive, gather supplies and flee from enemies. The game uses VR to create an impressive sense of scale, making enemies seem even more large and threatening! A unique storyline adds to the atmosphere.

Gameplay and Storyline

Frostbound sees players guiding the 'Elkin' through a frozen landscape, the objective is to trek through the cursed lands towards the cursed mountain. In addition to undertaking a perilous journey beset by wolves and evil spirits, the Elkin must scavenge and make camp to avoid travelling through spirit-haunted nights. Clues to the nature of the curse and the origin of the Elkin people are scattered throughout the landscape. Different Elkin have different skills, so managing the team is the key to survival, travelling by day is best, but poor survival skills will see the Elkin trekking through the night!

Playing the Game

Frostbound uses VR to make the player feel part of the gameplay. This gives a genuine feel of threat when being chased by enemies, and the landscape seems truly immense. However, there are certain glitches with the gameplay and controls that mar an otherwise great game.
