Food is Medicine உணவே மருந்து is a free Android app developed by K R JAWAHARLAL that features an ancient Tamil literature on medicine called "Theraiyar Kappiam." The app provides a list of items of daily use as a medicine indexed by name of herbs and disease. The main objective of the app is to help people in villages who lack proper medical facilities and have to travel to the nearest town or capital for treatment. The app is in Tamil and is aimed at a population with poor net coverage and low education levels, who can access it with the help of their children.

It is important to exercise caution while using the app as some of the herbs listed are poisonous and may be dangerous. However, the majority of the items listed are everyday cooking ingredients. This app is the second of its kind, following Kural Medicine, and will soon be available in an English version.
