Focular is a Chrome add-on designed to help users manage their online procrastination by tracking time spent on self-identified distracting websites. Users can define their own procrastination sites, such as social media or news outlets. The extension operates in two phases: the first week serves as a baseline with no prompts, while the second week introduces optional intervention prompts at random intervals. These prompts may include a brief Sudoku game, which can be dismissed immediately. This dual-phase approach aims to encourage users to be more mindful of their online habits without being intrusive.

Privacy is a key feature of Focular, ensuring that participation is anonymous and only the time spent on designated websites is logged. Users have the option to provide an email address for research purposes, but no personal information is collected. By installing Focular, users consent to participate in a study conducted by ITU Copenhagen, contributing to research on online procrastination and potential interventions.
