Reference app for fiber optic technicians

FiberVibe Fiber Optic Explorer is a free mobile reference app from developer FiberVibe. It is a companion tool that was made to assist field technicians who work with fiber optic cables for various applications and purposes. It follows the international TIA and IEC standards, and users can view fiber samples and check for fiber colors.

A field companion

In a nutshell, FiberVibe Fiber Optic Explorer was made to help fiber optic technicians working in the field as a reference tool when handling jobs that require various cabling setups, such as for telecommunications, industrial sensors, or decorative lighting fixtures. They can look up fiber color, bundle (tube) color, striping, and markings, just by inputting the fiber count.

Alternatively, they can view fiber samples using the first 12 or 24 fibers of the full cable sequence up to 576 fibers. Another handy feature is the Custom Standard Creator, which lets you map any local or project-specific color sequence. Now, as handy as this app may be, it also has very limited appeal outside those who work with these types of materials for their profession.

A must-have

If you’re a technician who works with fiber optics in the field and need a reference tool to refresh your counts and colors, the FiberVibe Fiber Optic Explorer app is worth a check. It’s intuitive to use and offers extensive details and information for a wide variety of use cases you might have.
