Fauxbar Lite is a free Chrome add-on developed by Chris McFarland. It serves as an alternative to Chrome's Omnibox, bringing the classic functionality of Firefox's Awesome Bar to Google Chrome. With Fauxbar Lite, users can quickly find history pages, tabs, and bookmarks with ease. The results are ranked using Mozilla's frecency algorithm, similar to Firefox.

To use Fauxbar Lite, simply focus Chrome's Omnibox and press F+Spacebar, or click the orange Fauxbar icon located beside the Omnibox. Unlike the original Fauxbar extension, Fauxbar Lite does not replace Chrome's New Tab page.

Fauxbar Lite offers several features to enhance the browsing experience. The Address Box allows users to accurately find history items, bookmarks, and opened tabs. It supports mid-word searching, non-alphanumeric characters, and provides consistent URL auto-fill and auto-complete. Users can also take advantage of keyword shortcuts for their favorite websites and enjoy right-click options such as Add/Edit Bookmark and Add/Edit Keyword.

Additionally, Fauxbar Lite offers a Search Box with the ability to add search engines from favorite websites. Users can assign keywords to search engines for quick access or choose from a visual list. The add-on also displays suggestions as users type their query, retrieving suggestions from the selected search engine when available.

Fauxbar Lite includes a Tiles feature, allowing users to show tiles for their favorite websites with screenshot thumbnails. Users can either let Fauxbar choose site tiles or manually select them. The add-on also offers Omnibox integration, font customization, the option to choose the number of results displayed, and more than 60 different configurable options.
