Tavern Talk Stories: Dreamwalker
D&D-inspired visual novel game
Fall in love with supernatural beings in this visual novel
Falling for Yaoguais is an adventure game that explores themes of drama and fantasy. Developed by the indie developer HE/B.E. for PC, this casual title lets players indulge in a love affair involving four adorable and charming Taiwanese supernatural beings, also known as Yaoguai.
With its rich lore and choice-based mechanics, Falling for Yaoguais delivers a fun and romantic playthrough that blends elements of a dating simulator and visual novel, making it the perfect game for hopeless romantics. It features anime-style graphics and utilizes interactive fiction, offering an experience that revolves around one’s decision-making.
In Falling for Yaoguais, supernatural beings are real—and they happen to be hot guys. The best part? They are your love interests. In this game, you are thrust into a romantic adventure involving four Yaoguais, each with a unique story. With more than 150 choices leading to different outcomes, every decision you make shapes your journey and the relationships you build.
The story follows you, an applicant for a small-time job at an amusement park that ends up being a trap set by Yaoguais to attract humans to eat them. So, in this game, you must disguise yourself as one of those supernatural beings in human form to unravel in secrecy what is truly taking place in the said amusement park.
Customize your name and delve into a 300,000-word visual novel with four distinct love interests and at least nine Yaoguais supporting characters. It also features five endings, four of which are exclusive to each of the love interests, and one bad ending. However, the pacing can be improved, as it can feel too fast and overwhelming as the story develops.
Falling for Yaoguais offers a romantic journey full of supernatural intrigue and charming characters. Its blend of dating simulation and visual novel elements, along with rich lore and interactive choices, makes it a captivating experience. Although the pacing can be refined, the game’s unique premise and multiple outcomes ensure that each playthrough feels fresh and exciting, making it a must-play for hopeless romantics.
