Facebook Demetricator is a Chrome extension developed by bengrosser that aims to remove all the metrics on Facebook. This extension hides the numbers that measure and present our social value and activity on the Facebook interface. Metrics such as friend counts, likes, comments, and messages are all hidden, allowing the focus to shift from how many friends you have or how much they like your status, to who they are and what they have said. With Facebook Demetricator, "16 people like this" becomes "people like this."

The purpose of this extension is to invite users to experience Facebook without the influence of numbers, and to see how their experience is changed by their absence. By disrupting the prescribed sociality that these metrics produce, Facebook Demetricator aims to enable a network society that isn't solely dependent on quantification.
