Expanding Fronts is a free mod for Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds. It is a fan-made extension that adds new content to the base game, such as new maps, units, civilisations, and gameplay features. This expansion requires the base game to be owned.

Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds is a real time strategy game, much like Age of Mythology, but set in the Star Wars universe. Expanding Fronts expands on the existing gameplay due to the game no longer being worked on by the developers.

New civilisations to play as

Expanding Fronts adds four entirely new civilizations that the player can choose; Geonosian, First Order, Resistance, and the Zann Consortium. Each of these new civilizations has been fully developed with unique graphics, units, and technologies. They can be selected the same as any of the base civilizations, and the game can be played in its entirety using them.

New techs and units

The mod makes a number of enhancements to the existing units and tech trees within the base game, including the addition of new units. Some additions include being able to transport infantry into battle using Transport Mechs, battle coastal defences with Monitor Ships, and engage in aerial combat with the Interceptor.

Lots of content

Expanding Fronts adds a lot of new content to a game that was first released in 2001 and has long ceased to be in active development by the creators. It should be noted that the graphics are quite dated which may put off new players, but for old fans of the franchise, this mod may well be a reason to come back to Star Wars Galactic Battlegrounds.
