Puzzle mystery made between VR and mobile

Elsewhere Electric is an asymmetric co-op puzzle experience for Meta Quest, SteamVR, and mobile. Developed by Games by Stitch, one player inhabits a VR headset as the “Installer,” navigating a mysterious facility full of puzzles, invisible threats, and symbolic barriers. The other plays as the “Operator” on a phone, monitoring schematics from afar, decoding symbols, communicating consistently, and supporting the Installer.

Mystery locked in something unique

Elsewhere Electric is a dual-role setup and is the game’s twist. The Installer must physically explore environments using tools, the VR hands, and puzzle interactions, but depends heavily on the Operator, who sees layouts, clues, map data, and ciphered symbols. This division of perspective creates tension not only in puzzle-solving but in how you communicate. However, it has limited replayability

The facility features a retro-futuristic design, inspired by 1970s/80s institutional buildings, with analog technology, ominous lighting, quiet hums, and flickering devices. Invisible creatures, hazards, and limited resources add stakes. The VR player occasionally is plunged into darkness, forced to rely on cues or direction from the mobile partner. The game can be cryptic at times.

A cryptic yet engaging cooperative puzzle

Elsewhere Electric thrives on its inventive asymmetry, creating a tense partnership between VR and mobile players that rewards clear communication and teamwork. Its retro-futuristic atmosphere, eerie puzzles, and shared reliance between Installer and Operator make it stand out in the co-op puzzle genre. However, limited replayability and occasionally cryptic design may restrict its long-term appeal.
