ElecHead is a free puzzle game where you play as a robot character called Elec who goes on an adventure inside an abandoned factory. The game is developed by NamaTakahashi who created Elec with the capability to run an electric current through anything it touches, be it floors, walls, or objects.

The game feels like an adventure game at first, since you have to explore through the dark, abandoned area. However, as you play, it becomes more of a puzzle game since you have to come up with strategies and tricks to move forward and collect chips to unlock gates.

Electrifyingly wonderful

ElecHead is a wonderfully designed game with straightforward gameplay. The game starts off simple and easy to understand, despite the complete lack of clear instructions and objectives. This tests a player’s curiosity and forces them to explore and try to solve the challenges of the floor they’re currently at. There are secret chips that you collect so you can unlock gates and move to the next level.

The progression of the difficulty of the puzzles is exceptional. You are slowly and smoothly eased from easy to hard, so much that you won’t really feel it. There are some stages that can get you stuck, but they are not impossibly difficult that you’d want to give up on the game. The controls are also simple: arrow keys to move, C to jump, and X to throw Elec’s head.

Elec’s removable head is genius, and it gives the players more options to solve the floor. Only the head is electric, so whatever the head touches will have an electric current. Meanwhile, you can move the body to wherever you want. However, you can only do so for ten seconds. Otherwise, the robot will explode. Fortunately, there are numerous checkpoints and there is no life system.

Magnetic and highly addictive

ElecHead is a highly addictive game with puzzles that will keep you playing for hours. While the game doesn’t have a clear story or goal, it’s still quite well done that you’d completely ignore this flaw. However simple, the game is very well thought out and has all the magnetic gaming mechanics and elements that will keep you hooked until the very end.
