EarthWorm Jim was literally a groundbreaking game because it was one of the first to feature destructible environments, and the destructible environments were earth, (aka the ground). In the 2D games, you would blast tunnels through the earth and mud with your gun. With Earthworm Jim 3D, you are above ground and have to take down an unseen evil force. Navigate obstacles in the 3D environment and shoot your enemies who would do you harm. Earthworm Jim 3D is nothing like the previous games, which is a shame because they were beloved. The graphics are colorful and bright, and the environments are luminescent and well developed. The characters in Earthworm Jim 3D are rather bland, both in the way they look and their personality, but it is the best that developers could do in the year 2000.
