Eagle Island: A Falcometry-Based Action Game
Eagle Island is a Nintendo Switch game developed by Pixelnicks. The game follows the story of Quill and his owl Koji, who must explore the avian world of Eagle Island, uncover the ruins of lost civilizations, and confront the gargantuan deity, Armaura, to rescue Ichiro. The game's pixel art is modernized and provides a fresh take on platforming. It takes inspiration from the roguelike and metroidvania genres, allowing players to enjoy either short runs or a longer story-based experience.
One of the unique features of Eagle Island is its falconry-based gameplay. The game has fully procedurally generated levels, 80 different perk abilities to mix up gameplay each run, and magical feathers that transform your bird into elemental forms. The game has 9 beautiful environments to explore. Quill's arsenal of solo moves consists of running, jumping, and the occasional ledge grab, and players can launch attacks with Koji in 8 directions using the D-pad-like aiming controls. Eagle Island was supported by 1,291 backers on Kickstarter.
