Drops of Death is a premium adventure game from developer Snowhaven Studios and is a murder mystery visual novel experience with a romance twist. In it, players unbeknowingly fall for a killer after a traumatic, near-death encounter. They must come to grips with whether to pursue their possibly misplaced feelings or bring the suspect to justice. 

Killing you softly 

In Drops of Death, you play as Adrien Lee, a college student who brushes with death in a chance encounter with a hooded killer. Being hidden from view, you don’t know the identity of the suspect, but there are four suspects who may fit the bill, two of whom are fellow students, a true crime blogger, and a crime detective tasked with catching the murderer. 

However, you unexpectedly develop romantic feelings for your assailant and arrive at a twisted, moral impasse. You must now choose to give in to your feelings or the path of justice in the end. The game allows you to set your gender at the start to appeal to a wider audience, and there are more than 50 possible endings depending on your choices and actions. Having said that, the game leans more on the lighthearted and romantic side, which will put off those looking for a serious and gripping murder mystery experience. 

A twisted love 

If you like visual novels and murder mystery games, you can have both with Drops of Death. It introduces a unique romance element to the gameplay that takes the experience to a different direction. Don’t expect anything too dark or serious, though. If you’re okay with that, give this one a try.
