Free-to-play soccer simulator
Dream League Soccer 2018 is a free sports game from Free Magic Saga Games. This soccer simulation app lets you build your dream team from the year’s full FIFPRO roster. Manage your own soccer club and rise across eight divisions, offering increasingly immersive and challenging gameplay experiences.
With massive customization options and games accompanied by dynamic commentary, Dream League Soccer 2018 is one of the finer entries in the long-running DLS franchise. While the game doesn’t let you grind too much because of the stamina system, it still feels equally challenging and enjoyable. Also, check out Soccer Football League 19.
Build your dream team
Much like FIFA 18, Dream League Soccer 2018 lets you experience the thrill of football by playing on the field and handling matters beyond it. In terms of playing soccer with your team, the game aims for lifelike accuracy. On the plus side, you get to enjoy smooth movements from opposing players. On the other hand, certain mechanics appear to be oversimplified—stealing the ball from possession being an example.
As mentioned, the game allows you to experience increasingly challenging levels of gameplay, both in terms of management and soccer itself. There are eight leagues featured in-game, patterned from their real-world counterparts. The AI doesn’t scale accordingly, but it suddenly gets difficult once you get to the higher leagues. You can sign new athletes or unlock additional features for your home stadium.
The only thing that prevents you from grinding the game hard is its Stamina System. Games in the real world are spaced to provide enough rest, but this game doesn’t have the same system. Every game you play, the athletes’ stamina drops, which requires you to take them off or “heal” them with gold. The best thing to do is to take a couple of hours off in real life.
Is it worth playing?
If you’re after a full soccer experience optimized for mobile games, Dream League Soccer 2018 is a good place to start. It has an updated roster of athletes plus a wide range of customization options, from your team to your home stadium’s appearance. It has its mechanical shortcomings, plus the treatment on player stamina, but it’s still a better game overall than most soccer sims.
