DMSS is a free utility mobile application that lets you monitor your cameras using your smartphone or tablet device. Developed by Hangzhou CE-soft Technology Co., Ltd., this app is a surveillance system that boasts various features such as remote monitoring, video playback, push notifications, alerts, and the like. It is compatible with various different devices aside from cameras and you don’t need to have an account to start using it.

What is DMSS?

Short for “Digital Mobile Surveillance System,” DMSS is a surveillance application that can support different types of devices for both live viewing and even for security monitoring. Upon launching the app, you will have to enable access to your storage for the videos and images. Choose your country afterward and you can immediately start using it afterward. However, for more functions and services to use, you have to sign up for an account. 

There is a tutorial on how to navigate the interface. Simply tap and hold the upper bar of icons to scroll through them. This contains 7 features you can easily access: Live, Playback, Door, Favorite, File, Alarm, and Access. To read up more on them, just go to the Help and Feedback section found in the Me tab. This tab can be found at the bottom of the screen, alongside Home and Message.

The top-right corner buttons are the search tool and the Plus button is for adding devices, while the top-left is the View button for switching between grid view and detailed view for your connected devices. If you don’t know how to use a feature, you can simply refer back to the Me tab and check the FAQ or fiddle with the settings. The app works fine enough but it frequently messes up with notifications and camera views.

Alerts are useless at times

Overall, DMSS is a handy surveillance tool that supports different devices and functions for your security system. It works on 3G, 4G, and Wi-Fi so you can monitor your setup anytime. However, checking out any notifications can be a huge hassle since it doesn’t accurately send them. Sometimes, opening them to check on the live feed doesn’t work either—making it useless to even open the notifications as a shortcut to the app.
