DIY Keyboard is a free-to-play game that simulates the creation of custom keycaps, or the buttons on your keyboard. Developed by Crazy Labs by TabTale, this relaxing game lets you apply colors on keycaps that have unique embossed and engraved designs on them. Also, there are also other game modes that give you different experiences related to the game concept.

This is different from keyboard design generators like Glass Water Keyboard Theme or Blue Black Keyboard Theme apps. The custom keycaps you create in this game cannot be applied to your device keyboard, but it provides an enjoyable simulation.

A fun game for customizers

Customizing keycaps is a growing hobby nowadays, with users either purchasing from creators or doing it themselves. With DIY Keyboard, you get to enjoy the experience of removing keycaps, adding a decoration, painting over it, and installing it back. In adding decorations like flowers and miniature pins, the game lets you do it with a tweezer. This small detail adds realism to the experience.

In terms of gameplay, it’s a casual game that doesn’t impose strict objectives or failure conditions. You can play it without any pressure, although it rewards you based on how well you follow the original design. Whether you’ll play it seriously or not depends entirely on you. Additionally, there’s no game over scenario and you can replay completed stages as much as you want.

With that being said, this game is good for a few minutes of fun and enjoyment. After that, the game starts being repetitive especially because only the colors and the decorations change. Fans of actual keycaps are aware of custom designs that are complex in both visual and textural aspects. Lastly, the game has a bunch of ads, which appear too frequently and often in-between stages.

For brief enjoyment

DIY Keyboard is a visually enjoyable game with a unique simulation experience. Through this game, you get to experience how to create custom keycaps. The developers even attempted to bring realism by simulating the precision needed to add miniature decorations to keyboard caps, which makes the game more fun. Unfortunately, it ends there: the game becomes repetitive after a few minutes of gameplay.
