Investigate dead bodies and the tales they tell
Thriller simulation game
Dispatch is a free first-person thriller simulation game where you play as a dispatch agent, working alone in a dark, eerie office. It has a voice recognition feature where the player reads the responses out loud instead of just clicking them. This provides an extremely immersive gaming experience, perfect for horror.
The developer, TwoShoedLou, made the game in a way that takes advantage of your auditory senses to bring you into the story. Combine that with the voice system, and you get a simulation game unlike any other. So, wear your headset at full volume for the best gaming experience.
Dispatch is a story-driven horror game where you play as a police dispatcher that receives disturbing calls. Your job is to make decisions throughout the game to ensure the safety of your callers. The game shows you a first-person perspective and lets you interact with your environment, like using the computer and answering the phone— albeit you can’t walk around. However, the mechanics of this game can be stale after a while.
This game follows a short story of a police dispatcher who receives a disturbing phone call that takes a darker turn. Your job is to make difficult choices throughout the game to ensure the safety of the caller while avoiding harm yourself. While it has the sound effects and other elements of a good horror simulation game, some voices sounded lazy and unimpressive, which is dissapointing.
Dispatch has a lot of potentials to be really good in its genre, but the story is too short, so it feels a little rushed. Plus, the jump scare of the monster in the ending was out of place, but it was still predictable that it will come. Even so, the creators nailed the suspense element and the atmosphere of the office was spot on.
Updates on the game have rolled out fixing bug issues, adding more substance to the game like choices, some storylines, and changing voices. Players have loved the game even in its short version and would love an extended cut version. The developers are working on creating a fully released game from this concept. Still, the overall short horror game delivered and is enjoyable and totally worth the try.
Dispatch has all the elements it needs to be a great horror simulation game. The eerie atmosphere, disturbing calls, and voice-enabled responses definitely bring you into the shoes of the police dispatcher. However, some drawbacks make the story forgettable, and the game itself is very short. Still, it doesn’t fail in giving you a good rush of adrenaline from all the suspense and creepiness.
